There are various types of radio equipment , all have their specific application in the many different fields of use.

PBR
Private Business Radio - equipment for use on the designated commercial frequency bands operating in the United Kingdom.

PMR446
Licence exempt portable radio equipment with a low power limitation operating on designated channels in the UHF frequency band.

Marine
Portable and fixed equipment operating on the designated marine channels in the VHF frequency band providing local communication in coastal waters, plus HF equipment designed for operation over distances of many hundreds of kilometres on the open seas.
